      • Answer: In general, the connection dimensions of the filter correspond to the pipe diameters of the domestic connection lines. However, one has to check whether the calculated peak flow VS does not exceed the maximum nominal flow of the filter.
      • Answer: In accordance with DIN EN 806, part 5, the filter part in non-backwashing filters must be replaced every 6 months. Given that this requires an intervention in the potable water system, such replacement has to be done by an expert technician. The operator can do the servicing in case of backwashing filters. DIN EN 806, part 5 schedules a 6-months interval. During backwashing, the filter element is manually rinsed without interrupting the water supply.

      • Answer: A pressure bridge is an unintended hydraulic link between a pipe with higher pressure and a part of a system with reduced pressure. The most common pressure bridge is the link between non-reduced cold water pressure and reduced hot water pressure, the pressure reducing valve being arranged in a decentralized way upstream of the water heater. Inside the drinking water installation, the cold and hot water lines come together, either via a thermal mixing valve or other outlet fittings valves (e.g. single-lever mixers, etc.). Check valves are fitted at both points of entry to prevent cold water from penetrating hot water pipes, e.g. in case of thermostatic mixing valves. In case of leakage of the fitted check valve at the point of entry of the hot water connection, cold water pressure can be directly transferred to the hot water pipes. If the cold water pressure is higher than the opening pressure of the pressure relief valve fitted upstream of the water heater, this malfunction will be detected due to the constant drip of the diaphragm pressure relief valve. Sometimes this will only occur at night when there is increased pressure in the supply network due to low consumption. In most cases, however, one can determine that the pressure gauge displays higher pressures at the pressure reducing valve upstream of the water heater, as even a correctly installed check valve downstream of the pressure reducing valve only rarely provides complete, proper sealing. Yet the pressure reducing valve does not allow pressure to pass against the intended direction of flow as long as the outlet pressure is higher than the downstream pressure as set; thus, the pressure reducing valve has the effect of an absolutely tight sealing check valve. When mounting the pressure reducing valve in a central position, directly behind the water meter, the above mentioned error cannot occur because the cold and hot water systems are at the same pressure. However, if there is just one tap, for instance in a garage or in the garden that draws water from the pipe upstream of the pressure reducing valve, the same error can occur even in case of a central position of the pressure reducing valve, if there is a connection to the water heating system via a mixing valve, for instance. Let us stress here that if the pressure reducing valve is not mounted in a central position, during the heating of the water heater, the outlet pressure as set can increase due to the expanding hot water until reaching the opening pressure of the diaphragm pressure relief valve. That means that even in case of a centrally mounted pressure reducing valve, such pressure increase can occur if aforementioned pressure bridge becomes effective in the opposite direction.
      • Answer: Probably the shut-off valve of the expansion vessel is closed. On the handle, the inscription “Betrieb MAG” must be readable in the direction of the vessel. Please refer to the instructions for use.
      • Answer: There are generally several ways in which to operate a system. There can be a system that includes softening or demineralization, depending on the electrical conductivity of water, which is the yardstick for the total salt content and easy to determine via conductivity meters. To ensure the respective mode of operation, SYR offers special softening and (total) demineralization systems.

      • Answer: The SYR Filling-Combis prevent back pressures, backflow and backsiphonage of heating water into the potable water system. In accordance with DIN EN 1717, the integrated backflow preventer provides a permanent connection between the heating system and the drinking water installation. When mounting the connecting pipes, stagnation of water must be avoided. With its isolating valve, the pressure reducing valve, a pressure gauge, backflow preventer and drain connection, the FillingCombi includes all the features necessary for the safe filling of a heating system. No more laborious hose connections, the FillingCombi makes automatic filling and refilling possible. The integrated pressure reducing valve sees to it that the heating installation is always filled according to the set operating pressure. Once the filling procedure has been completed, the isolating valve of the FillingCombi should be closed again.
      • Answer: The FillingCombi BA is suitable for fluid category 4 (heating water with additives). The FillingCombi CA is suitable for fluid category 3 (heating water without additives).
      • Answer: You can freely choose your internet router. We do not know of any malfunction of the corresponding Connect device with respect to the use of a specific router.
      • Answer: Basically, nothing special is necessary in terms of router settings; they are usually prepared for such applications by the manufacturer.
      • Answer: The Connect device’s internet function includes regular data traffic between the device and the server. Double encoded data packets are sent to the server, and the double encoded data packets are then retrieved at the server after the query sent by the device. This bi-directional connection is possible through enabling DHCP on the router. This is generally already the default setting of the router.
      • Answer: For smooth operations of your data traffic between the Connect device and the server, port 80 of the router must be enabled. This is generally already the default setting of the router.
      • Answer: The multiple coding of the data packets and the way in which communication is done more than fulfills security requirements of the server against outside attacks. There are no security loopholes according to the latest technology.
